This past summer, I felt as if I wasn't doing anything meaningful with my life. I wanted to make an impact, even if it was only for one person. After a few key events, I realized that what I really wanted to do was to encourage people to be nicer to each other. Such a simple concept! And perhaps with a little coaxing, the kindness would spread. So I started the blog operationnice.com. Over the last few months it has grown, and I continually receive so many wonderful emails from people who feel exactly like I do! Saying that we could all use a little more nice!

One of my readers, Andi Fisher, sent me an email the other day. She told me that she loved my site and was participating in my weekly nice assignments. After promising that she isn't a stalker (haha!), she asked for my address because she had a gift that she wanted to send me. This, of course, made my day and I forwarded along my address.

Yesterday I arrived home from work after a particularly stressful day to a package on the kitchen table. Seeing Andi's return address, I excitedly tore the package open to see a little red glass heart inside. On the accompanying note, Andi wrote, "Please enjoy this gift from me to you for being an all-around good person. Your site adds a little bit of sunshine to my days!" She went on to tell me about Heart is Hot, mentioning how it really complements the message that I'm trying to convey. She couldn't be more right! Not only did she bring tears to my eyes with her kind gesture, but she introduced me to a wonderful program that I support with all my heart! (My real one, that is!)

I'm going to keep this glass heart in my purse. One day I'm going to come across a person that could use a little extra love, whether it's a coworker, a friend, or a complete stranger. And I'm going to pass this gift along to them, in hopes that they'll do the same one day. I look forward to it!
